"The Secondary Punishment” Study Launch
We were delighted to attend the launch of Irish Penal Reform Trust’s "The Secondary Punishment”: A Scoping Study on Employer Attitudes to Hiring People with Criminal Convictions. The research was carried out by Dr Joe Garrihy and Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche from Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology with funding from IHREC and additional support from ODI.
We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Saoirse Brady (Executive Director, IPRT) and Pamela Drumgoole, Policy and Research Coordinator for their hard work in bringing this report to life and producing a wonderful event.
It was insightful to hear from some excellent speakers, including Dr Garrihy and Dr Bracken-Roche; Dr Anne Cassidy (Team Leader, Galway Rural Development); Damien Quinn (Founder of Spéire Nua); Kara McGann (Head of Skills and Social Policy, IBEC); Kenneth Keating (Assistant Principal, Penal and Policing Policy, Department of Justice); and Deirdre Malone (Director, IHREC).
